Monsters Among Us #1 (Page 22 B&W)

In panels 2 and 3, I referenced the vampire “Nosferatu” from the German movie in 1922.  Here is an image of Nosferatu from the movie.  It is a really cool early vampire movie where the B&W presentation is wonderful!

Monsters Among Us #1 (Page 22 Color)

Panel 1 is a nice closeup by Stefano of the vampire, Count Drakkard as the creature hovers over the fallen, unconscious woman!  I like how Mark colored the vampire a light green with glowing red eyes!  Wouldn’t you just love … Continue reading

Monsters Among Us #1 (Page 21 Pencils)

I really like how Stefano gave Dr. Kraushaar a thick, muscular body, which can be seen in panels one and two.  It also was a great idea for Stefano to have the Vampire hanging upside down in the park and … Continue reading

Monsters Among Us #1 (Page 21 B&W)

With this page, I named the park “ROMITA PARK” after John Romita, who is one of my favorite comic book artists!  I also had fun writing the dialog with the vampire thinking, “She will next feel the PANG of Count … Continue reading

Monsters Among Us #1 (Page 21 Color)

When I decided to set the storyline in the late 1950’s, I knew I wanted to have the Kraushaar family utilize jet packs!  There was so much scientific optimism in the 1950’s, in pop culture anyway, hoping that society would one … Continue reading

Monsters Among Us #1 (Page 20 Pencils)

I enjoyed inking Stefano’s wonderful buildings in Panel 1 only to write extensive dialogue that covered them up!  This is a difficulty in writing a comic book……..deciding how much to write and how much beautiful art is to be covered … Continue reading

Monsters Among Us #1 (Page 20 B&W)

It was fun to ink the last panel with Dr. Kraushaar and his wife….who looks very beautiful here, I think!  Stefano penciled Dr. Kraushaar with a very determined look on his face……..ready to hunt a Vampire!

Monsters Among Us #1 (Page 20 Color)

I very much enjoyed writing the dialogue for the first two panels, taking into account the hysteria over comic books in the mid-1950′s which led to congressional hearings and the subsequent Comics Code stamp!  Stefano’s penciling on the crowd scene … Continue reading

Monsters Among Us #1 (Page 19 Pencils)

Wonderful Page 19 pencils by Stefano!  I love this progression of the Vampire seeking out and attacking the man on the street, complete with the dead hand protruding upward!  A few changes that I made to the page were showing … Continue reading

Monsters Among Us #1 (Page 19 B&W)

I love panels with lots of black backgrounds and depth.  Panel 3 was alot of fun to ink with the Vampire attacking the victim!  Panel 4 was also enjoyable rendering the dark night sky!  I chuckled to myself when I … Continue reading
