Recently, Robert Steibel asked followers of his wonderful Jack Kirby blog: KIRBY DYNAMICS http://kirbymuseum.org/blogs/dynamics/ if they wanted to ink a posted Kirby commission pencil drawing from 1984. KIRBY DYNAMICS is one of my favorite blogs as it almost daily displays Jack Kirby art, mostly scanned original art. When I saw this Sgt. Fury art, I jumped at the chance to ink it. I had a fantastic time inking Jack’s pencils. Below are the kind words Robert Steibel said about my inking. Thank you, Robert!
Thanks to Rob Wuest for inking the Sgt Fury pencil sketch I posted here recently. I think Rob did a fantastic job — he’s very faithful to Jack’s original art, and his delineation gives the piece depth and visual impact. Here’s Rob’s email.
-Thank you for your blog KIRBY DYNAMICS, which I view regularly. I very much enjoyed inking the attached Sgt. Fury Kirby art from 1984 (oh boy do I wish I owned that pencil art…..it is fabulous!).Please feel free to post it on your blog. My favorite inkers are Joe Sinnott, Frank Giacoia, John Romita and Mike Royer, which all influence my inking style.Fellow Kirby fan,Rob Wuest

Thank you. I am glad you liked the Kirby inking.
Thank you. More on the comic book will be coming later, so hang in there!
Very cool. This is the sketch my friend Britt had Jack do back in 84 when he lived in the LA area. In fact I was lucky enough to visit Mr. Kirby at his home thanks to Britt. I am still bummed I did not try to purchase a sketch from Mr. Kirby himself at that time, but at least I have some original pages of his. Anyways I should check out the rest of this site here.
Thanks Rick for the sketch background information and your memories of Jack Kirby! Yes, please check out more of Monsters Among Us!
